About Us

Who we are

The Islamic School of Stanford is a weekly school for Muslim children between the ages of 5 and 16.  It is held at Jordan Middle School in Palo Alto, CA and operates on Sundays from 10:00am until 1:30pm.   Our staff is composed completely of volunteers.   We are in session for the entire academic year with the exception of the holidays listed on our Calendar (see Calendar link in Left sidebar).

** Although a number of our teachers and families come from Stanford University, we are not officially associated with the school.  You can find out more about Muslims at Stanford by visiting the website of the Islamic Society of Stanford University (ISSU).

Our Mission

At the Islamic School, we are striving to create and maintain a place where our students can learn about the beauty of their faith and the richness of the Islamic tradition.  In short, the school has 3 primary goals:

  1. To help our students develop strong, positive Islamic identities.
  2. To impart to our students a basic foundation in the fundamental teachings of Islam.   This includes but is not limited to Quran, Seerah, History and analysis of current events from an Islamic perspective.
  3. To create a place where Muslim children can build friendships - sometimes lifelong - with other young Muslims.
